Waist training is that controversial topic you’re hearing more and more these days. The Kardashians started the conversation, and everyone else is keeping it alive with talk of pros and cons. Maybe you have friends who are interested, maybe you're just curious.

It’s safe when worn and used correctly.
Waist training, corset training etc is just like any other form of body modification through fitness. If you don’t do it properly, then you’ll hurt yourself. Have you ever tried jumping head-first into an intense exercise you’ve never done before? Yikes.
The same thing goes for waist training.
What are the risks?
When you google waist training, the first dozen results are articles all about how bad it is for you and how many risks there are. The main ones are; compressing your organs so that they shift up or down, bruised bones/organs and acid reflux.
All of which, also happens during pregnancy.
Are they legitimate? Yes, they can be. Are they something you need to worry about? Not if you're waist training properly and correctly.
How to waist train safely and correctly.
Slowly, gently and realistically! This is important to allow your body to naturally adapt to any changes with no side effects. (Just like a pregnancy.)
Be realistic about your shape. Pay attention to your body type. You may not, physically, be able to get a Kim Kardashian tiny waist. But you can give yourself a little more shape than normal. Don’t push beyond what is possible for your body type.
Be gentle and never force yourself into a waist trainer. Don’t wear it too tight or wear a size too small in hopes of getting a small waist quickly. This is when bruising, or the risk of damage can occur - for obvious reasons.
Always wear a size that you are on the first row of hooks (the looser setting.) And wear it so you’re comfortable. It should feel like you’re wearing more supportive, stronger Spanx. You should be able to breathe and move comfortably in your waist trainer.
Go slow, and gradually tighten your waist trainer after you’ve noticed your current setting is too loose. You can wear it on the loosest setting for a year if you want to before moving to the next set of hooks. Don’t rush yourself.
Don’t wear it for longer than 6 hours a day, and listen to your body. If you’re uncomfortable, loosen it or take it off.
It’s important to keep your muscles strong while waist training. If you’re not working out, your muscles can become lazy which isn’t good for your core strength. An easy way to stop this from happening is to do some really simple core strengthening exercises!
